In 2012,  24-year-old Joe Eicher settled down with his wife in Hamilton, Indiana and planted his own business: Eicher's Sawmill. Since starting a career in the country, with the help of his son and four other employees, Joe now delivers pallets and picks up timber within a 75-mile radius. 

With roots in rural Hamilton, Joe established Eicher's Sawmill just across the road from his home, where he keeps a pile of firewood—his own product—on the front porch. Even though Joe walks to work every morning, amazingly enough, his countryside business still reaches areas like Northern Indiana, Lower Michigan, and Western Ohio.

How does a 24-year-old Amish man build and maintain a business without the convenience of modern technology? How did buying, clearing, and selling timber from a remote location in Hamilton, Indiana grow to a 75-mile radius? Who knows; but maybe like the products at Eicher's Sawmill the answer is simple: our business is homegrown.
